What is TestDaF TDN 4 and what does 4x4 mean?+
TestDaF reports each of the four sections separately at TDN 3, TDN 4 or TDN 5. Candidates often use “4x4” to mean TDN 4 in Lesen, Hören, Schreiben and Sprechen. Official TestDaF guidance states that at least TDN 4 in every section is the standard proof for unrestricted linguistic admission, but always check your chosen university and programme.
Where can I find a free TestDaF Modelltest?+
The official TestDaF website provides digital example tasks and preparation material. Registered digital TestDaF candidates also receive access to another free model test in the participant portal. Use official material to verify the current format before relying on third-party exercises.
How can I practise TestDaF Schreiben and Sprechen?+
Complete timed responses instead of only reading model answers. For Schreiben, review task fulfilment, structure, academic register, cohesion and grammar. For Sprechen, record answers to the seven task types and review clarity, timing, organisation and how directly you answer the situation.
Is the digital TestDaF different from the paper-based TestDaF?+
Yes. Both assess academic German through reading, listening, writing and speaking, but their task types, sequence and timing differ. The digital exam is completed on a computer at a test centre and integrates skills in several tasks. Prepare specifically for the version you registered for.
How much does TestDaF cost and when are the exam dates?+
Prices, available formats, dates and deadlines can change by country and test centre. Use the official TestDaF registration page for the current fee and schedule. Plan around result timing and your university application deadline.
